About Stock Moe

Stock Moe, former financial advisor and finance teacher

I am Stock Moe. I spent years as a financial advisor at one of the largest financial firms in the country, then left the industry to teach finance. I hold an M.B.A. and an M.Ed. in Business Education, I taught college and high school finance, and I coached student teams to 15 state championships and two back to back national championships in the Stock Market Game. Since 2020 I have run the Stock Moe YouTube channel, which now has more than 720,000 subscribers, where I break down stocks, crypto, housing and the economy in plain English.

What this site is for

Everything I publish here is written for the person who wants to understand the thing before they put money into it. That means long guides with the actual numbers, the actual fee formulas and the actual rules, pulled from the source documents and dated so you know when I checked them. When the numbers change, I update the page and move the “Last updated” line rather than writing a new one.

How I research a page

I use the primary source first: SEC filings on EDGAR, Freddie Mac’s weekly mortgage survey, the Census Bureau, the Fed’s calendar, and the fee schedules and help centers of the brokers and exchanges I write about. Every article ends with a Sources list with dates. If I use a product, I say so. If I am guessing, I say that too.

How this site makes money

Some pages carry affiliate links to Webull and Kalshi, two products I use myself. If you open an account through one of those links, I get paid by the company at no extra cost to you. Every page that has one says so in a box at the top, and every link is marked so you can see it. The site also points to my paid Stock Moe Academy and to my free Sunday Letter. None of it changes what I write; the fee math and the risks are on the page whether you click or not.

I am not a financial advisor and nothing on this site is financial advice. Everything here is my own opinion, for educational and entertainment purposes only. Do your own research and talk to a licensed professional before you make any financial decision.
