XRP Support Level Held at $1.28: Now the 5 EMA Is the Test
XRP tested the support line I have been pointing at all week, and it bounced. As of October 16, 2026, XRP is trading near $1.33 after dipping to the $1.28 XRP support level yesterday and coming right back up. That is the line I did not want to lose, and it held like a champ. In this video I go over what XRP has to do next, why I think the Nasdaq 100 is about to bounce too, and the exact price where I plan to add to my Hyperliquid (HYPE) position.
Key takeaways
- XRP tested the $1.28 support level on October 15, 2026 and bounced. I had not touched that line since my last video, so you can check it against the older chart yourself.
- To feel warm and fuzzy again I need XRP back above three moving averages: the 5 EMA near $1.34 first, then the 13 EMA and the 50 EMA, which both sit near $1.38.
- XRP has gone two daily candles without touching the 5 EMA. When I see that double gap, price usually snaps back up to the 5 within a day or two.
- The Nasdaq 100 (QQQ) is sitting right on its 50 EMA near $727.46 after a triple miss of the 5 EMA. I am leaning toward a rebound over the next few days.
- HYPE hit my $77 target, bounced to $82 and is back near $80. It is still bearish under the 50 EMA. My buy order goes in at $77 on the dot.
- If HYPE builds a right shoulder and breaks down, that is a head and shoulders pattern, and I will have stop losses set before it happens.

XRP support level: the $1.28 trampoline held
Let me start with the chart, because I have not touched these lines since my last video. You can pull up the video before this one and confirm it. I drew a major support line at $1.28 and I told you two things: this is the line we do not want to lose, and I thought we were going to test it.
Yesterday XRP tested it immediately. Then it pushed all the way back up. That is exactly what I wanted to see. I have been calling this line the trampoline. All the kids pile on and push it down, and then it launches everybody back up. The low I have been looking for in October or November is the kind of low that starts the next leg higher, and this bounce is the first sign of it.
Did you see the candles yesterday across XRP, HYPE, Bitcoin and Ethereum? It looked like we hit an ultimate bottom. I am not calling the bottom with certainty, because nobody can. But the setup I laid out in my crypto recovery levels for XRP, HYPE, Ethereum and Bitcoin is playing out the way I hoped.
The three EMAs XRP needs back: $1.34, $1.38 and $1.38
Holding support is step one. Step two is climbing back through the moving averages. An EMA is an exponential moving average, a line that tracks the average price over a set number of days and gives more weight to the newest days. I use the 5 EMA and the 13 EMA for short term direction and the 50 EMA for the bigger trend.
As of October 16, 2026, the 5 EMA on XRP sits near $1.34. The 13 EMA and the 50 EMA are both near $1.38. For me to feel all warm and fuzzy, I want XRP back above the 50. But we have to start with the five. You do not get to talk about the 50 until price takes the 5.
I will not be shocked to see XRP back above the 5 EMA by the end of the day. From $1.33 that is about one penny. One penny is not much to ask after the bounce we just saw.
The double gap on the 5 EMA
Here is the part I want you to learn, because it is one of the setups I teach in my zero DTE sessions and it crosses right over to daily candles. XRP has now printed two daily candles in a row that did not touch the 5 EMA. I call that a double gap.
When price misses the 5 EMA twice like that, it normally comes back and hits the five very quickly afterward. It is like a rubber band that got stretched too far. Look back on the XRP chart and you can see it. Price missed the five, missed it again, and then one, two, straight up it went until it was all the way back at the top of the range.
I am expecting much the same thing here, especially since it is happening right off major support. Either today or tomorrow I believe we get a green spike that reaches the 5 EMA. Whether it keeps going after that depends on the 13 and the 50, but the first move is the one I feel best about.
Why I think the bad news is temporary
You are hearing a lot of bad news right now. The wars, inflation, the Federal Reserve (the Fed), the election. The markets are reflecting a little bit of it. In my opinion, it is temporary.
If you have followed Bitcoin for any length of time, you know it moves in cycles. If this cycle followed the exact pattern of the last ones, the low would come in October or November, and then we would move into the next bullish leg. That lines up with everything else on the calendar.
The election is coming shortly, and the party in power never wants to see weakness going into election day. One huge red day can change how people feel, and that plays into how the Fed and the Treasury talk. Do not be surprised if they start talking about injecting more money. If you believe the stock market and crypto are only going to go down, down, down from here, you are ignoring history.
The Nasdaq 100 is sitting on its 50 EMA
I always check the Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) because crypto is correlated with the Nasdaq 100. QQQ absolutely got hammered. The 5 EMA crossed below the 13 EMA and price dropped straight to the 50 EMA. The rule on my chart is simple. If the 50 does not hold, we get smoked.
It held. QQQ closed at $728.00 on October 15, 2026, right on the 50 EMA near $727.46, after coming all the way back up to it. That is also a triple miss of the 5 EMA, three candles in a row that never touched the five. Everything got oversold very quickly, and in my opinion it got overheated to the downside just as fast.
So I am looking for green. I am leaning toward QQQ finishing above $727.46 today, and if that happens it is beautiful for the Nasdaq 100. I was watching the same gap on QQQ two days ago in my XRP price prediction and the $1.40 close I need to see, and the setup has only gotten more stretched since then.
HYPE hit $77, so here is my buy order and my stop loss plan
Hyperliquid (HYPE) has been really good to me and really bad to me, so I pay close attention to it. Remember when I told you it would go to $76 to $77? It hit $77 yesterday, just like I said. Then it bounced all the way back to $82. As of October 16, 2026, it is trading near $80.63.
I want to be honest about what this chart looks like. It is coiling, and it is still bearish. The pattern is big red candle, little green candles, big red candle, little green candles. Do not be shocked if another big red one shows up until HYPE breaks back above the 13 EMA and the 50 EMA. On my chart the 50 EMA sits near $83.35, and price has now confirmed below it. That is not what we want to see.
Here is my plan. My buy zone is $77 down to $70. I am probably going to put a buy order in at $77 on the dot and add to my position there, because the chart sets up nicely at that level. I am rolling the dice a little, but it is a calculated roll.
Now the risk. HYPE has a nice left shoulder and a head on the daily chart. If it comes back up, builds a right shoulder and then breaks below the neckline, that is a head and shoulders pattern, and I hate to say it, but a chart like that should crash down. So I will be setting stop losses on my positions. I covered the bigger picture on this chart in my HYPE price prediction and the 50 EMA support line to watch. For now HYPE is still a Stock Moe unicorn. It made a huge move up, it is bouncing around, and we are going to see if it can push to the next level. I think it can.
A quick note from Cleveland
I missed a video yesterday, and I want to tell you why. I took two of my sons to Cleveland, where my family is from, to see the Guardians play. The game got moved from 6 PM to 1 PM the night before, our flight out of Philly was at 10 AM, and we barely made it. But Mrs. Moe made sure her three guys were taken care of, and it worked out great. Cleveland won 3 to 2 over the Tampa Bay Rays to force game four tonight at 7:30 PM ET.
My family worked the railroads in Cleveland for generations before they moved to Pennsylvania to run the railroads there. I love going back. And congratulations to the Brewers fans out there. I think it has been since 1982 since they made a World Series. Let me know your favorite team in the comments on the video.
Common questions
Did XRP hold support?
Yes. XRP tested the $1.28 support level on October 15, 2026 and pushed right back up. As of October 16 it is trading near $1.33. That line had not been moved since my last video.
What does XRP need to do next?
It needs to take back the 5 EMA near $1.34 first. After that the 13 EMA and the 50 EMA, both near $1.38, are the levels that would make me feel good about the trend again.
What is a double gap on the 5 EMA?
It is two candles in a row that never touch the 5 EMA. In my experience price usually snaps back to the five very quickly after a double gap, often within a day or two. XRP has one right now, and QQQ has a triple miss.
Where would Moe buy HYPE?
My buy zone is $77 to $70, and I plan to put a buy order in at $77 on the dot. HYPE touched $77 on October 15, bounced to $82 and is now near $80.63.
Is HYPE forming a head and shoulders pattern?
It has a left shoulder and a head. If it builds a right shoulder and breaks the neckline, that completes the pattern and I would expect a sharp drop. That is why I am setting stop losses now instead of waiting.
