You cannot buy Anthropic stock yet, but you can get ready. As of October 31, 2026, Anthropic has filed a Form S-1 with the SEC to list its Class A shares on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the ticker ANT, and the price range and share count are still blank. Once ANT starts trading, you can buy it through any U.S. brokerage account, including Webull, and some investors may get shares at the IPO price through a broker’s IPO program.

Here is how to buy Anthropic stock the smart way: what is real today, what is only reported, the exact steps for IPO day, and the plan I would use myself. Anthropic is the company behind Claude. Everything in this guide comes from the SEC filing, the brokers’ own pages and dated reporting, and I tell you which is which.

Key takeaways

  • Anthropic is not public yet. It filed a public Form S-1 on October 26, 2026 after five confidential drafts starting June 1, 2026. As of October 31, no amended filing with a price range had been posted on EDGAR.
  • The ticker will be ANT on the Nasdaq Global Select Market. Class A shares get one vote each. Class N shares, held mostly by strategic partners, carry no vote.
  • Timing is reported, not confirmed: the Motley Fool wrote on October 30 that Anthropic appears on track to debut as early as the week of November 16.
  • Before the IPO, regular investors have no real way in. Private secondary markets are generally limited to accredited investors, and Forge says Anthropic does not allow direct share transfers right now.
  • At the IPO, Webull lets you request shares in its IPO Center with at least $100 of settled cash. Allocation is never guaranteed.
  • On day one, use limit orders and a position size you can live with. New listings can swing hard in both directions.

Can you buy Anthropic stock right now?

No. Anthropic is still a private company. Its registration statement is not effective yet, which means no shares can be sold to the public until the SEC declares it effective and the deal prices. Any website or social media account offering you “Anthropic stock” today is either selling an interest in a private fund, offering a secondary market trade that most people cannot qualify for, or running a scam.

You can check the filing history yourself on SEC EDGAR. Anthropic, PBC filed a confidential draft registration on June 1, 2026, amended it on July 13, August 10, September 4, October 1 and October 9, and then filed the public Form S-1 on October 26, 2026. When the company files an amendment with a price range, that is the signal the IPO is close.

What is Anthropic’s stock symbol?

Anthropic’s stock symbol will be ANT. The S-1 says the company has applied to list its Class A common stock on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the symbol “ANT,” and Anthropic said the same in its own announcement. Until the shares start trading, searching ANT in your brokerage app will not bring up Anthropic.

Know what you are buying before you buy it. Public investors will get Class A shares with one vote each. Class N shares, held mostly by strategic business partners, carry no vote. Anthropic is also a public benefit corporation with a Long Term Benefit Trust, and the S-1 says it will be a “controlled company” under Nasdaq rules. In plain English: you will own a piece of the profits, but you will have very little say in how the company is run.

When is the Anthropic IPO date?

There is no official date yet. The S-1 still shows a blank price range, and Anthropic has not announced when it will price. The Motley Fool reported on October 30, 2026 that the company appears on track for a market debut as early as the week of November 16. Treat that as reporting, not a promise. IPO dates slide all the time when markets get choppy.

Here is the order of events to watch. First comes an amended S-1 with a price range and share count. Then the roadshow, where the banks pitch big investors. Then pricing, usually the night before trading. Then the first trade, which on a big Nasdaq IPO usually happens late morning after a price discovery period, not at 9:30 AM. I track each step on my Anthropic IPO page as it happens.

How to buy Anthropic stock step by step

These are the steps I would follow to buy ANT once it lists. They work at any U.S. broker. I use Webull, so I note where Webull’s own rules come in.

How to buy Anthropic stock (ANT) when it goes public.

  1. Open and fund a brokerage account now

Opening and verifying an account can take a few days, and IPO requests need settled cash. Fund it before the price range comes out so you are not waiting on a transfer.

  2. Watch for the price range

An amended S-1 on SEC EDGAR will show the price range and share count. That tells you roughly what the company will be worth at the IPO price.

  3. Request IPO shares if your broker offers them

On Webull, IPOs that are available show up in the IPO Center. An order needs at least $100 of settled cash and is a conditional offer to buy, not a purchase. Allocation is never guaranteed.

  4. Decide your maximum price and position size

Write down the most you will pay per share and the total dollars you will put in before the first trade. Keep it to a size you could watch fall 30% or more without panic.

  5. Use a limit order on day one

Big IPOs open after a price discovery period. Webull says market orders are not allowed during that phase and it usually ends between 10:30 AM and 1:30 PM Eastern. A limit order keeps you from paying far more than you planned.

  6. Review after the first week

Check your entry against your plan. Lockups, the first earnings report and analyst coverage after the quiet period can all move the stock.

Any new account offer is subject to Webull’s current terms and eligibility, so check the offer page for the current terms before you deposit. IPOs are volatile, investing can lose money, and past results do not predict future results.

How to get Anthropic shares at the IPO price

Most IPO shares go to big institutions, but a slice usually goes to regular investors through brokers. The S-1 says the lead banks “may agree to allocate” shares to underwriters for sale to their online brokerage account holders. Business Insider, citing Bloomberg, reported on October 28, 2026 that Anthropic picked JPMorgan to lead a retail offering that could be 15% to 20% of the shares. That is reporting, and JPMorgan declined to comment on the size.

Webull’s IPO help page spells out how its program works. Each IPO order needs at least $100 in settled funds, IPOs cannot be bought on margin, and your order is a conditional offer to buy. Webull says there is no guarantee you get the shares you request, and its IPO course says it cannot ensure participation in every IPO because it works with a limited set of underwriters. Webull also says it has no flipping policy. You can sell on day one, and it counts as a day trade.

My honest expectation: demand for ANT will be enormous, so even if your broker gets an allocation, you may get a small piece of what you ask for, or none. Plan as if you will be buying on the open market.

How to buy Anthropic stock before the IPO

For almost everyone, you cannot. Here are the paths people talk about, and the catch with each.

  • Private secondary markets like Forge, EquityZen and Hiive match buyers with employees and early investors. They are generally for accredited investors. The SEC’s definition for an individual is net worth over $1 million not counting your home, or income over $200,000 ($300,000 with a spouse or partner) in each of the last two years, or certain licenses such as the Series 7. Forge’s Anthropic page also says the company does not allow direct share transfers or fund investments at this time.
  • Owning Anthropic’s big partners. The S-1 describes note purchase agreements with Google and Amazon that convert into Class N shares. Owning Alphabet or Amazon stock gives you a small indirect slice, but Anthropic is only one piece of those giant companies, so it will not move like ANT.
  • Funds that hold private shares. Some closed end funds and interval funds hold stakes in private tech companies. Read the holdings and the fees before you buy, because some trade far above the value of what they own.
  • Anyone on social media selling “pre IPO” shares. Walk away. Real private share sales go through registered platforms with paperwork and identity checks.

What the Anthropic S-1 says about the business

You should know what you are buying before you click buy. The growth is the reason this IPO is so big. According to the S-1, revenue went from $41 million in 2023 to $386 million in 2024 to $4,585 million in 2025. The first six months of 2026 alone brought in $16,286 million.

Anthropic stock IPO revenue chart from the S-1: $0.04 billion in 2023, $0.39 billion in 2024, $4.59 billion in 2025 and $16.29 billion in the first half of 2026
Anthropic revenue by period, from the Form S-1 filed October 26, 2026.

The headline loss looks scary: $80.7 billion for the first half of 2026. But $72.4 billion of that is a non cash change in the fair value of convertible notes, derivatives and SAFEs. The operating loss was $693 million, and cash from operations was a positive $3.9 billion. The bigger risk is the commitments: the S-1 describes at least about $114.5 billion of spending owed to Google and at least $110 billion to Amazon. I walk through all five checks I run on a big IPO in my Anthropic IPO filing breakdown.

Then there is price. Forge lists Anthropic’s Series H round on May 28, 2026 at $589.01 per share and a $965 billion post money valuation. Reports have floated an IPO valuation well above that, but the only number that matters is the price range in the amended filing. Divide that valuation by the revenue run rate and decide if the multiple makes sense to you.

My plan for the Anthropic IPO

I will not chase the open. I learned that watching SpaceX this year. As I covered in my Anthropic IPO breakdown, SpaceX listed at $135 in June, ran to $225.64 four days later, and fell to $104.83 in August. People who bought the hype on day four were down more than half at the low. People with a plan did fine.

  • Small first buy. If I buy on day one, it is a starter position, not my full size.
  • Limit orders only. I set my price before the stock opens.
  • Wait for the chart. I want to see where the stock settles and how it reacts to my 5, 13 and 50 EMAs once there is enough price history.
  • Mark the calendar. The first earnings report and the lockup expirations are when the next big moves usually come.

If you want my levels on ANT once it trades, they will be in my free Sunday Letter and on my Anthropic IPO page. And if you want to practice your IPO day plan first, my guide on how to buy fractional shares shows how to start with just a few dollars.
