This is my Webull review for 2026, and the short answer is yes: Webull is a safe and legit broker. Webull Financial LLC is an SEC registered broker dealer and a member of FINRA and SIPC, so securities and cash in your account are protected up to $500,000, including $250,000 for cash, if the firm fails. Cash you sweep into its Cash Management program gets FDIC coverage up to $5 million across partner banks, according to Webull’s SIPC and FDIC page as of October 26, 2026.
Safe is not the same as right for you, though. Webull charges no commission on U.S. listed stocks, ETFs and options, but it makes money in other ways, some fees still apply, and its app is built for people who want to run their own trades. I place my own trades on Webull, and below I lay out the protections, every fee I could confirm on its own pages, the withdrawal rules, day trading, futures, and who I think should and should not use it.
Key takeaways
- Webull Financial LLC is registered with the SEC and is a member of FINRA and SIPC. Its parent, Webull Corporation, trades on the Nasdaq under BULL.
- SIPC covers up to $500,000 per account, including $250,000 of cash. Webull adds excess coverage through underwriters at Lloyd’s of London. None of it covers market losses.
- Cash Management sweeps cash to partner banks for FDIC coverage up to $5 million, $250,000 per bank.
- No commission on U.S. listed stocks, ETFs and options. Fees include $0.50 per contract on certain index options, $75 to transfer stock out, and $25 for a domestic wire.
- ACH deposits must clear a 5 business day hold before you can withdraw them. ACH withdrawals take about two business days.
- The SEC approved ending the $25,000 pattern day trader minimum on April 14, 2026. Webull said it will support the change, so check the rules in your app before you day trade.

Is Webull safe? How your money is protected
When people ask me if a broker is safe, they usually mean one of two things. Will my money be there if the company goes under? And will I lose money using it? The first one is about protection. The second one is about you and the market, and no broker can protect you from that.
On protection, Webull checks the boxes. Its SIPC and FDIC help page says SIPC protects securities and cash up to $500,000 per account, with a $250,000 limit on cash. SIPC steps in if a member brokerage fails and customer assets are missing. It does not cover a stock that drops.
Webull also carries excess SIPC coverage through certain underwriters at Lloyd’s of London. For accounts in the omnibus clearing structure, the page lists a $100 million aggregate limit, a $1.9 million cash sublimit per account and no per account limit on securities. A separate policy for fully disclosed clearing accounts lists a $150 million aggregate limit, $37.5 million per customer for securities and $900,000 per customer for cash.
Three things are not protected the way stocks are, and I want you to know them before you deposit:
- Market losses. If you buy a stock at $100 and it falls to $60, no insurance makes that up.
- Leverage. Margin and options can lose more than you expected, and margin can lose more than you put in.
- Other products. Crypto, futures and event contract accounts are held under different rules than a stock account. Check which entity holds each one in the app disclosures before you move big money there.

Any new account offer is subject to Webull’s current terms and eligibility, so check the offer page for the current terms before you deposit. Investing involves risk, including the loss of money you put in, and past results do not predict future results.
Is Webull legit? Who owns Webull?
Yes, Webull is legit. Webull Financial LLC, based at 44 Wall Street in New York, is a FINRA member broker dealer, and you can look it up yourself on FINRA BrokerCheck. Its Form CRS, the plain English relationship summary every broker files, says it offers self directed trading in stocks, options, ETFs, bonds and mutual funds, has no account minimum and does not give investment advice.
The parent company is Webull Corporation, which is listed on the Nasdaq under the ticker BULL. Its June 2026 operating data, released July 15, 2026, showed 5.1 million funded accounts and $28.5 billion of customer assets. In June alone, customers traded $105.8 billion of stock and 89.4 million options contracts.
How does Webull make money if trades are free? The Form CRS lists it plainly: payment for order flow from the market makers that fill your orders, interest on uninvested cash, margin interest, lending out stock bought on margin, subscriptions for data, and certain commissions and contract fees. None of that is unusual. Robinhood and most zero commission brokers run on the same model. It just means the app is free to use, not free to run.
Is Webull FDIC insured?
Your brokerage account itself is not a bank account, so it is SIPC protected, not FDIC insured. The FDIC part only applies to cash you put in Webull’s Cash Management program, which sweeps it to a network of partner banks. Webull says that coverage reaches up to $5 million, at $250,000 per bank.
As of October 26, 2026, Webull’s offer page listed a Cash Management yield of 3.6% APY for Premium members and 0.5% APY for standard accounts, with a note that rates are variable and subject to change. If you keep cash at Webull waiting to invest, that gap matters, and I cover Premium below.
Does Webull charge fees? Every fee I could confirm
Webull does not charge commissions on stocks, ETFs and options listed on U.S. exchanges, per its fee schedule. Here is what you can still pay, from Webull’s own pages as of October 26, 2026:
- Index options: $0.50 per contract on certain index options, and $0.10 per contract on oversized option orders.
- Regulatory fees on sales: the SEC fee of $0.0000206 times the trade value, plus a tiny CAT fee on buys and sells. These pass through to regulators.
- Algo orders: $0.005 per share for equity algo order types.
- Moving your account out: $75 per outgoing stock transfer. Transfers in are free.
- Wires out: $25 domestic and $45 international, per Webull’s wire withdrawal page. Webull’s fee schedule does not list an ACH withdrawal fee.
- Margin interest: as low as 4.15% with Premium and 8.74% for standard accounts, per the offer page.
- Market data: Level 2 and OPRA options data are $2.99 a month each for standard accounts and $0 with Premium.
- Prediction markets: 2 cents per contract to open and 2 cents to close, as I covered in my Webull prediction markets guide.
For most buy and hold investors, the real cost of Webull is close to zero. You pay when you use margin, trade index options, wire money out or leave for another broker. If you are starting small, my guide on how to buy fractional shares walks through buying a slice of a stock for a few dollars on Webull and other apps.
How to withdraw money from Webull

Withdrawing is simple once you know the holds. The one that trips people up: money you just deposited cannot leave right away. Webull’s withdrawal timing page lists a 5 business day hold on ACH deposits, 2 days on debit card deposits, 1 day on wires and 10 days on rollover checks. ACH deposits started after 4 p.m. Eastern or on a non business day add one more day.
Sale proceeds also have to settle before you can pull them out. Stock and option sales settle the next business day. Money tied up in open orders or IPO requests is locked until those orders finish.
How to withdraw money from Webull to your bank account.
- Sell what you want to cash out
Sell the shares or contracts you want to turn into cash, then wait for the sale to settle. Stock and option sales settle the next business day.
- Check your withdrawable cash
Your withdrawable balance can be lower than your cash balance if recent deposits are still in their hold period or money is locked in open orders.
- Open the transfer section and choose withdraw
In the Webull app, go to the transfers area for your account and choose to withdraw.
- Pick ACH or wire
ACH to your linked bank is the usual choice. Wires cost $25 domestic or $45 international and can arrive faster.
- Enter the amount and confirm
Review the bank account and amount, then confirm. Webull says ACH withdrawals take about two full business days, and domestic wires usually take one to two business days.
One more rule from Webull’s deposit and withdrawal FAQ: if you want to send money to a different bank than the one it came from, you may have to wait at least 60 days from the deposit date. That is an anti money laundering rule, not a Webull fee.
Is Webull good for day trading?
Webull was built for active traders, and the tools show it: real time charts with dozens of indicators, Level 2 data, a desktop app, a browser version and paper trading to practice. For day trading specifically, the bigger news this year is the rule change.
On April 14, 2026, the SEC approved FINRA’s plan to eliminate the $25,000 pattern day trader minimum for margin accounts, according to Schwab’s summary of the rule. Margin accounts with more than $2,000 instead get intraday buying power set by the broker. The rules took effect June 4, 2026, and brokers have until October 20, 2027 to put them in place. Webull said in an April 15, 2026 press release that it will support the removal for stocks, ETFs and options as the new framework takes effect.
So is Webull good for day trading? The tools are good, the trades are commission free, and the rule that kept small accounts out is going away. My warning is the one I give every new trader: most people who day trade lose money, and margin makes the losses faster. Practice in paper trading first, and confirm the day trading rules shown in your own account before you place a trade.
Can you trade futures on Webull?
Yes. Webull’s offer page lists stocks, ETFs, options, crypto, futures, prediction markets and IRAs in one app, and its help center lists a separate 4 business day hold for ACH deposits into futures accounts. Futures use leverage, so a small move can mean a big gain or loss, and futures accounts are excluded from Webull’s current new account promotion.
Webull also added prediction markets this year, with event contracts that come from Kalshi. I wrote a full walkthrough in Webull Prediction Markets: How to Trade Them (2026), including how the contracts are priced and what they cost.
Webull Premium and the current Webull offer
Webull Premium is a paid subscription. On October 26, 2026, Webull’s offer page compared it with a standard account like this:
- Cash Management: 3.6% APY with Premium versus 0.5% APY standard.
- IRA contribution match: 3.5% with Premium versus 1% standard. IRA transfer match: 1% versus 0%.
- Margin rates: as low as 4.15% with Premium versus 8.74% standard.
- Level 2 and OPRA data: $0 a month with Premium versus $2.99 a month each standard.
The same page said a new account gets one month of Premium, and that new accounts making an initial deposit of $100 or more can receive 12 fractional shares worth up to $3,600, with additional terms. Joint, futures, IRA, entity and event contract accounts were excluded. Offers change often, so treat that as what the page said on October 26, 2026, not a promise, and read the terms on the page before you deposit.
My verdict: who Webull is for
After years of trading and teaching, here is how I sort it.
- Webull fits you if you want to pick your own stocks, ETFs or options, you like real charts and data, you want stocks, crypto, futures and prediction markets in one app, or you want to start small with fractional shares.
- Webull is not for you if you want someone to manage your money, you want a branch to walk into, or you will be tempted to trade options and margin before you understand them.
That is why it is where I place my own trades. When a big listing like the Anthropic IPO hits the market, I want fast charts and a fast fill, and Webull gives me both. It does not make me a better investor. My rules do that.
