Kalshi Sign Up Bonus and Referral Explained (2026)

Yes, there is a Kalshi sign up bonus, but it comes through referral links and promo offers, not one standing public bonus. As of October 28, 2026, the sign up page behind my referral link says “STOCKMOE sent you $50 on Kalshi” and “Trade $25 to unlock,” for new customers only. Kalshi’s own referral program FAQ adds the fine print: amounts vary by offer, rewards may be trading credits with withdrawal limits, and you can attach a code within 72 hours of opening your account.
I trade on Kalshi and I talk about the odds in my videos almost every day, so this is the question I get most in my comments: is the bonus real, and what is the catch? This page walks through how the Kalshi sign up bonus and the referral program actually work, step by step, using Kalshi’s help center as my source. If you have never placed a trade, read my plain English guide on how Kalshi works first, then come back here.
Key takeaways
- Kalshi bonuses come from referral links and promo offers. The amount depends on the offer, and Kalshi says an “up to” amount is a maximum, not a promise.
- My link’s sign up page, checked October 28, 2026, reads “STOCKMOE sent you $50 on Kalshi. Trade $25 to unlock.” It is for new customers only and subject to Kalshi’s current terms and eligibility.
- You can add a referral code within 72 hours of creating your account, as long as no other code is already attached.
- Rewards may be paid as trading credits. Credits can carry withdrawal limits, may not move between products, and may expire if you do not use them.
- Referral offers are limited to eligible US users. Kalshi is open only to adults and only where it operates.
- Kalshi says rewards and credits can show up on a 1099 MISC once IRS thresholds are met, so keep records for tax time.

Does Kalshi have a sign up bonus?
Kalshi does have sign up bonuses, but there is no single bonus that every new user gets. The money comes from offers, and the offer you get depends on how you sign up. Kalshi’s referral FAQ says reward amounts “vary by offer” and can be different for the person who invites and the person who joins. It also says that when an offer says “up to,” that number is the ceiling, not what everyone receives.
In practice there are three ways people end up with a Kalshi bonus:
- A referral link from an existing user or a creator like me. The link fills in the code for you.
- A promo code from a media partner. Sports and finance sites run their own codes with their own amounts and deadlines.
- An in app offer that Kalshi shows you under Your rewards after you join.
You generally get one. Kalshi’s FAQ says you can add a code only if no code is already attached to your account, so pick the offer you want before you sign up and read its terms first.
You are not the only one asking about this. Semrush shows about 2,900 searches a month in the US for “kalshi sign up bonus,” four times more than any other bonus phrase I checked.

How to claim the Kalshi sign up bonus, step by step
Here is the path I walk people through, using the steps in Kalshi’s referral FAQ and the sign up page as it looked on October 28, 2026. Screens change, so if a button moves, look for the same words.
How to claim a Kalshi sign up bonus through a referral link, based on Kalshi’s referral program FAQ and sign up page as of October 28, 2026.
- Open the referral link
Open the link on the device you will use. The sign up page shows the offer and who referred you. Mine reads “STOCKMOE sent you $50 on Kalshi” and “Trade $25 to unlock.”
- Create your account
Sign up with Google, Apple or email. If a referral field appears and is empty, type the code in.
- Verify your identity
Finish identity verification. Kalshi lists it as a common requirement for referral credits, and you cannot trade without it.
- Fund your account
Deposit money. Kalshi’s minimum deposit is $10, but you need enough to cover the qualifying trade in your offer.
- Complete the qualifying trade
Place the trades your offer asks for before its deadline. For my link that is $25 in trades on Kalshi’s predictions markets.
- Unlock the bonus
Kalshi’s FAQ says to open the bonus progress card in Explore, tap See all steps, and unlock the bonus when the option appears. Some bonuses credit on their own.
- Check where the credit landed
Predictions credits show under Portfolio in the app or Activity on the website. Not every reward goes to Predictions, so check the account it went to.
Want my offer? Open a Kalshi account through my link (affiliate link, I get paid if you sign up). The offer is subject to Kalshi’s current terms and eligibility, so read the offer page and its linked terms before you deposit. Kalshi is available only where it operates and only to adults. Event contracts can lose money, so trade only money you can afford to lose.
What counts as the $25 trade?
The qualifying trade is whatever your specific offer says it is. Kalshi’s FAQ does not give one definition. It says requirements “depend on the offer” and can include being a new user, using a valid code, verifying your identity, meeting location rules and finishing the activity by a deadline. It also says adding a code by itself does not qualify you.
For my link, the sign up page says “Trade $25 to unlock.” The way I read that, and the way I explain it to my students, is that you need to buy $25 worth of contracts. A contract priced at 50 cents costs $0.50, so 50 of them is $25. Covers.com’s review of Kalshi’s promos, verified October 26, 2026, says the credit is paid after the trades are placed whether they win or lose. That matches how these offers usually work, but the terms on your offer page are what count, so open them in the app under Your rewards, then Offers.
Two practical tips. First, the fee matters. Kalshi charges a trading fee when your order fills right away, and it is biggest as a share of your money on cheap long shots. I break down the math in Kalshi Fees, Withdrawals and Taxes Explained. Second, do not rush. Pick markets you actually understand, like a Fed decision or an election you follow, rather than clicking the first thing on the home screen to hit $25.
Is the Kalshi bonus cash or credit?
Treat it as credit, not cash, until your offer’s terms say otherwise. Kalshi’s FAQ says referral rewards “may be issued as trading credits,” and that some credits must be traded on an eligible product before you can withdraw anything. That is the single most misunderstood part of the Kalshi bonus.
Here is what Kalshi’s help center says about credits as of October 28, 2026:
- Withdrawal limits. Referral credits can carry withdrawal restrictions, and normal withdrawal holds still apply.
- Product limits. Credits may not move between products. Kalshi’s perpetual futures help article says perps credits stay in the perps account and cannot move to or from predictions.
- Expiration. Unused credits may expire and be forfeited under the offer terms. The perps article says unused credits may expire after 7 days.
- Timing. Credits can take up to 24 hours to show up after you qualify, according to the perps article.
- Winnings. The credit itself cannot be withdrawn, but winnings you earn by trading with it can be, per the perps article.
So a $50 credit is $50 of buying power on Kalshi, not $50 in your bank account. If you trade it and win, the winnings are yours to withdraw under the normal rules. If you trade it and lose, it is gone. If you sit on it, it may expire. Plan to use it within a week.
How to use bonus money on Kalshi
Once the credit lands, you use it like cash when you buy contracts. Kalshi’s FAQ says predictions credits show up under Portfolio, then Predictions, then Credit in the app. Here is how I would spend it if I were brand new:
- Start with something you follow. A Fed rate decision, an election, or a market tied to a number you already watch. I use these odds to check my own calls, which I explain in my Kalshi midterms guide.
- Buy in the middle, not the tails. A 5 cent long shot pays a lot when it hits, but it rarely hits, and the fee takes a bigger bite as a percent of what you pay.
- Use limit orders. Kalshi charges its fee when an order fills right away. A resting limit order that fills later pays no fee on most markets, per Kalshi’s fee schedule.
- Split it up. Three or four small positions teach you more than one big one.
- Write down why. Before you buy, write one sentence on why you think the price is wrong. That habit is worth more than the $50.
How to add a Kalshi referral code after you sign up
If you forgot the code or the link did not track, you have a short window to fix it. Kalshi’s FAQ says you can add a referral code within 72 hours of creating your account, as long as no code is already attached. Depositing or trading does not close that window, and logging out and back in does not restart it.
To add it, open Your rewards in the app, tap “Have a code?” and type the code. You can also reopen your friend’s link while you are signed in. If the app says the code is “invalid or expired,” Kalshi suggests checking for typos and extra spaces, making sure you are still inside the 72 hours with no code attached, reading the offer terms, and then contacting support.
How to find your Kalshi referral code
Your referral code is the last part of your referral link. Kalshi’s FAQ says to open Explore, then the menu, then Your rewards, and use the sharing options on the referral offer under Offers. When you copy that link, the code is the text after “referral=”. Mine is simply stockmoe, which is why my link is kalshi.com/r/stockmoe.
Action Network’s walkthrough, updated October 27, 2026, describes the same thing from the app menu under Invite friends, then the Predictions tab. Either path gets you to a link and a QR code you can share.
How the Kalshi referral bonus works when you invite a friend
The person who invites can earn a reward too, but it works differently from the sign up bonus. Kalshi’s FAQ says to claim it in Your rewards: open the Predictions referral card, find your friend under Invited friends, and tap Unlock bonus when it becomes available. Kalshi says limits vary by program and can include caps per referral or overall caps.
Kalshi does not publish one fixed number in the FAQ. Action Network reported on October 27, 2026 that the standard friend program paid the referrer $25 once the friend traded $25 on predictions, for up to 40 friends, and that the referrer had to have traded $25 themselves first. Treat that as a snapshot and check your own Your rewards page, because Kalshi changes these offers. Perpetual futures referrals are a separate program. Kalshi’s perps help article says those pay a share of the friend’s perps trading fees, weekly, after the friend enables perps and qualifies.
One warning from me. Do not try to game this with extra accounts or a family member’s details. Action Network’s summary of the program says Kalshi can deny or claw back rewards for self referrals, fake accounts or manufactured trading, and it is not worth putting your account at risk for $25.
Who can get the Kalshi bonus?
Kalshi’s FAQ says referral offers are “currently available only to eligible U.S. users,” and that each offer can add its own rules. Put together, you generally need to be:
- New to Kalshi, with no code already attached to your account.
- An adult who can pass identity verification.
- Located somewhere Kalshi operates and where that offer is allowed.
- Willing to finish the qualifying trades before the deadline in your offer.
Where you live matters twice. First, can you use Kalshi at all? Second, does the bonus apply in your state? Those are separate questions. Covers.com, verified October 26, 2026, lists the offers it tracks as unavailable in Nevada and Washington. I keep a state by state list in Is Kalshi Legal in Your State?, and I cover the regulation side in Is Kalshi Legit?. The short version: the CFTC designated KalshiEX LLC as a designated contract market on November 4, 2020, so it is a federally regulated exchange, not an offshore site.
Is the Kalshi bonus taxable?
Probably, so keep records. Kalshi’s help center says it issues a 1099 MISC for “credit/rewards from Kalshi” when you meet the IRS reporting thresholds, alongside 1099 INT, 1099 B and 1099 DA forms for other activity. Kalshi does not list the dollar thresholds and does not give tax advice. Your profit and loss on the trades themselves is a separate question, and the tax treatment of event contracts is still not settled. I walk through what Kalshi gives you at tax time in my Kalshi fees, withdrawals and taxes guide. Talk to a tax professional about your own situation.
Is the Kalshi sign up bonus worth it? My honest take
If you were already going to try Kalshi, yes, take the offer. There is no reason to sign up with nothing attached when a link adds credit. My link’s page says trade $25 to unlock $50, and that is a real head start for learning how these markets work.
But do not open an account because of the bonus. Here is how I think about it, the same way I taught it in the classroom:
- The $25 you trade is real money at risk. Event contracts settle at $1 or $0. You can lose all of it.
- The credit is not cash. It can expire, it can carry withdrawal limits, and it only becomes money if you trade it and win.
- Past results do not predict future results. The people in my comments who turned $25 into more had good trades. Others did not.
- Size it like a lesson. Use money you would spend on a book or a course, not rent money.
What I like about Kalshi is the odds. I use them every week to check my own calls on the Fed, rates and crypto. The bonus is a nice way to start doing that with a little extra buying power. If you also want my levels and the odds I am watching each week, I send them in my free Stock Moe Sunday Letter.
If you would rather trade Kalshi markets inside a brokerage you already use, Webull now offers prediction markets too. I compare the two in Webull Prediction Markets: How to Trade Them (2026).
Ready to claim it? Sign up for Kalshi through my link (affiliate link, I get paid if you sign up). New customers only, subject to Kalshi’s current terms and eligibility. Check the offer page for the current terms before you deposit. Kalshi is available only where it operates and only to adults. Trade only money you can afford to lose.
Common questions
Yes, through referral links and promo offers rather than one public bonus. As of October 28, 2026, the sign up page on my referral link reads “STOCKMOE sent you $50 on Kalshi. Trade $25 to unlock,” for new customers only. Amounts vary by offer and are subject to Kalshi’s current terms.
If you were referred, Kalshi’s FAQ says to open the bonus progress card in Explore, tap See all steps, and unlock the bonus when the option appears after you finish the qualifying activity. If you referred a friend, open Your rewards, find the friend under Invited friends and tap Unlock bonus.
Predictions credits appear under Portfolio, then Predictions, then Credit in the app. You spend them like cash when you buy contracts. Use them before they expire, and remember the credit itself is not withdrawable, only what you win with it.
Open Explore, then the menu, then Your rewards, and use the sharing options on the referral offer. Your code is the text at the end of your referral link, after “referral=”.
Yes, within 72 hours of creating your account and only if no code is already attached. Go to Your rewards and tap “Have a code?” Depositing or trading does not close the window.
Not directly. Kalshi says referral rewards may be trading credits with withdrawal restrictions. You can withdraw winnings you earn by trading the credit, under the normal withdrawal rules.
The offers I have seen are tied to trading, not to the size of your deposit. My link asks you to trade $25. Kalshi’s minimum deposit is $10, and each offer’s terms say what you must do to qualify.
Kalshi says it issues a 1099 MISC for credits and rewards when you meet IRS reporting thresholds. Keep records and ask a tax professional how it applies to you.
